We didn't build another app. We built the one that was missing.
Queerly was born from a conversation, an anger, and a conviction: everyone deserves a dating space that lives up to who they are.
It started with
a conversation.
One evening in 2024, a close friend showed us his screen. The dating app he was using gave him two options: man or woman. No pronouns. No space to say who he really was. Just two boxes. He smiled, a little resigned, and said: 'That's how it is everywhere.'
That sentence stuck with us. Not because it was dramatic — but because it was mundane. Because millions of LGBTQIA+ people live with that resignation every day. Because the apps that claim to welcome them offer, at best, a submenu in a system built for someone else.
So we started listening. Dozens of people, over months. Their frustrations, their fears, what they dreamed of finding. And we built Queerly around those conversations. Every feature, every design decision, every line of code was thought through with the community. Not for them — with them.
Co-built,
not imposed.
Queerly wasn't designed in a boardroom. It was designed in cafés, in discussion groups, in late-night calls with people who told us what no app had ever taken the time to hear.
An LGBTQIA+ advisory board validates every product decision. And 5% of every euro spent on Queerly goes to those who fight every day for the rights and safety of queer people.
We don't speak on behalf of others. We build the tool that lets them find each other.
What we believe in
Listen before building
Every feature is born from a need expressed by the community. Our LGBTQIA+ advisory board has veto power over every product decision.
Safety isn't premium
Panic button, identity verification, alerts — all free, for everyone. Safety should never be a paid privilege.
Give back what we take
5% of every euro generated by Queerly subscriptions goes to LGBTQIA+ organisations every month. Not a promise — an automatic, traceable, public transfer.
The team
A small, independent team building Queerly from A to Z — product, design, moderation, community.
We believe a well-designed app can change the way queer people meet. So we're building it ourselves, with zero compromises.
